The Register posted a story today about charges being laid against Wiseguy Tickets for using botnets to buy tickets en masse in order to scalp at vastly inflated prices. (their article here).
While it’s great to see someone paying for screwing desparate/clueless fans I don’t think this will mean an end so much as a lull in ticket scalping.
To some degree Wiseguy Tickets seem like a scapegoat and the charges are more to do with the hacking and fraud charges than scalping. Still, good to see these bottom feeders facing a courtroom.
